They are usually captured by steam distillation or cold expression, a method where the plant material is pressed to extract the pure oil. Unlike ordinary vegetable oils, such as corn and olive, plant essences break down easily and will evaporate if left in the open air. Most of our Hawaiian Girl products are packaged in cobalt blue bottles to protect these delicate oils from deterioration caused by direct sunlight.

	Lemongrass Cymbopogon citratus Lemongrass oil is extracted via steam distillation from finely chopped grass. It has a lemony aroma with rich overtones, and is known for its invigorating, antiseptic properties. We use Lemongrass oil in our Luhi Formula.
	Grapefruit Citrus paradisii Grapefruit oil is extracted via cold expression from the fresh peel of the fruit. It has a sweet, sharp, refreshing aroma, and is known for its antiseptic, diuretic properties. We use Grapefruit oil in our Luhi Formula.
	TangerineCitrus reticulata Tangerine oil is extracted via cold expression from the fresh peel of the fruit. Its smell is sweet, light and tangy. Tangerine oil is used as an appetite stimulant and digestive tonic, and is also used for cleansing and balancing. We use Tangerine oil in our Alani Formula.
	Lime Citrus latifolia Lime oil is extracted via cold expression from the fruit and fresh peel of the Lime. Lime has a very light, sweet and rich aroma. Cool and refreshing, it is used as an antiseptic and an appetite stimulant. We use Lime oil in our Maka Pua Formula.
	Lemon Citrus lemonum Lemon oil is extracted via cold expression from the fresh peel of the fruit. Its smell is light, sweet and refreshing, and it is known for its antiseptic and purifying qualities. Lemon oil is used to smooth wrinkles and treat oily skin. It is also excellent for treating colds, flu and throat irritation of any sort. Lemon oil is found in our Breathe Easy formula.

	Neroli Citrus aurantium Neroli oil is extracted via steam distillation from orange blossom petals. It has a sweet, floral scent with fruity overtones, and is used as an antidepressant and to calm nerves. Neroli is also known for its aphrodisiacal qualities. We use Neroli oil in our Alani Formula.
	Jasmine Jasminum grandiflorum Jasmine oil is extracted from fragrant jasmine blossoms. Its scent is sweet, exotic and beautifully floral. It is used therapeutically as an anti-depressant, and is known for its aphrodisiasical qualities. Jasmine oil is found in our Maka Pua Formula
	Ylang Ylang Canaga odorata Ylang Ylang oil is extracted via steam distillation from the flowers of the tropical flowering ylang ylang tree. Its scent is veru sweet, floral and exotic. Ylang Ylang oil is used therapeutically to calm nerves and lower blood pressure in cases of stress or shock.It is also excellent for skin care, partlicularly for the treatment of acne, exzema and oily skin. Ylang Ylang oil is used in our Ho'ola Formula.

	Sandalwood Santalum album Sandalwood oil is extracted from the dried roots and heartwood of the sandalwood tree. Its aroma is deep, woody, and exotic. Sandalwood oil is used therapeutically to ease sore throats, reduce skin inflammation, and reduce stress and tension. Sandalwood oil is used in our La'ua Formula.
	Eucalyptus Eucalyptus radiata Eucalyptus oil is extracted via steam distillation from fresh or partly dried leaves and twigs of the blue gum tree. Its aroma is clean, sharp and penetrating. Eucalyptus oil is known for its antiseptic and anti-viral qualities. It is cooling and soothing to the senses. Eucalyptus oil is used in our La'ua and Luhi Formulas.
	Cypress Cypressus sempervirens Cypress oil is extracted via steam distillation from the fresh leaves, twigs and cones of the cypress tree. Its aroma is woody, clear and refreshing. Cypress oil has comforting, warming and refreshing properties, and is used therapeutically to treat colds, rheumatism and circulatory problems. Cypress oil can be found in our La'ua Formula.
	Rosemary Rosmarinus officinalis Rosemary oil is extracted via steam distillation from the flowering tops and leaves of the rosemary plant. It has a strong, clean, minty/herbal scent and is known for its antiseptic and restorative properties. Rosemary oil is used therapeutically to aid digestion, treat sore muscles and relieve rheumatism. Rosemary oil can be found in our Ho'ola Formula.
	Lavender Lavendula vera Lavender oil is extracted from the flowering parts of the lavender plants. It has a clean, sweet, floral aroma, and is known for its ability to ease stress and calm nerves. Lavender oil is used therapeutically to treat a variety of ailments, including acne, bruises, allergies, bronchitis and digestive complaints. 	Ginger Zingiber officinalis Ginger oil is extracted from the rhizomes, flowering tops and leaves of the ginger plant via steam distillation. It has a peppery, spicy, warm aroma which is fresh and pleasing. Ginger oil is has a multitude of uses in traditional healing. It is used as an anti-tussive to treat colds and flu. Ginger oil is excellent for aiding digestion and calming upset stomachs. It is excellent for soothing tired muscles and joints and is an excellent anti-inflammatory preparation.
